SineWave and "any load" operation
With a chopped waveform, phase angle dimming is simply unsuitable for many loads, including most electronic transformers and electronic ballasts for fluorescent and metal-halide sources. SineWave dimmers can dim conventional tungsten halogen loads and also high intensity discharge sources such as HMI, MSR and MSD, which had been difficult to dim before SineWave.
- Controls any load, resistive, inductive or capacitive (reverse phase control dimmers cannot dim inductive loads)
- Dims ballasted loads such as HMI fixtures
- Requires no minimum load (maintains a perfect dimming curve even with very low wattage loads like LED's)
- Easily dims neon, cold cathode, low voltage electronic transformers and other ballasted loads without derating dimmer output, causing dimmer or ballast damage or dimmer latching
- Provides very high dimming resolution (thousands of points in the dimming curve eliminate any visible "stepping" in the light output, even on fast filaments or LED's)
- Even dimmed, it functions like a non-dim or switch circuit because the output is a true sine wave.
