Centralized dimming systems
In centralized dimming systems, dimmers are situated in one central location. High capacity mains supply is provided in the dimmer room with mains distribution to groups of dimmers through switch/fuse combinations. Load wiring is terminated at the dimmer rack, and wiring is routed via cable trays and conduit to all areas of the venue and terminated at connector strips or plug boxes.
Installation issues to be considered:
- Is it important that your dimmers be located in the same place?
- Is there sufficient space and a suitable location for a dimmer room?
- Is the dimmer room adequately ventilated to match the efficiency of the dimmers and the diversity factor?
- What is the cost element in positioning and installing/commissioning of dimmer cabinets?
- What is needed to provide high capacity mains distribution to the dimmer cabinets?
- What is the cost of installing permanent 3-wire load wiring to individual sockets throughout the venue, connections at dimmer cabinets and load sockets, continuity checking, etc?
- What is the cost of installing permanent cable ways to all locations in the venue?
- Does the estimated voltage drop in long load cables cause a significant problem, which requires heavier gauge wiring?
- Are other sensitive data/signal cables located in the proximity of the planned location of the lighting load cables? (Not an issue with SineWave)
